Merde and break a leg cast and crew of AMC's Breaking Bad...Today was a gorgeous day for Day One of shooting for the coming season of this award winning show. Nob Hill is a background 'star' for the opening shoot...
Now these are Director's Chairs
Many of us in Albuquerque have perhaps gotten a bit blase about movie and tv shoots. There are complaints about traffic backups and the 'movie tax breaks'...I for one am like a little kid when I see a 'shoot' taking place...Look Mommie pull over, I have to see this! Except usually it is my wife in the car with me who is (sigh) once again victim of my park and stare at stars routine...Today, I almost had a chance to be in Br Ba as a guy sitting in vacant lot with his camera in the back of famous actors but with a kind word from a director, I moved aside for the shoot.
Day One: the weather was great...both food and fun nearby for the cast and crew. And I suppose the main dude, Bryan Cranston could've walked to work from his Nob Hill residence. Not many big stars can do that. Nor can they sit at the Nob Hill Flying Star for a cup-a-java and not be drowned in fan appreciation...But we are so laid back about fame in our enchanted city...
The opening shoot for the new season took place just a block off Route 66 at Morningside. The crew is bushy eyed and fired up...Give this crew another month and the fellow that told me to move off the set, might not be as happy go lucky about it...It must be interesting to be a resident in this cool apartment building...Just hope residents close their curtains at night while the Bright Lights Big City action happens just off their balconeys.
So despite the cold, my hat's off to cast and crew of Br Ba...Another award winning (we hope) season is now underway and one quiet star of the show is of course, Albuquerque. Ditto to cast and crew of In Plain Sight another popular and 'gritty' televison series filmed here...It seems to me unless you have still seen neither one, that you're either a fan of one or the other...My choice is Br Ba but watching a film shoot of anything, anytime is always kind of fun for this 'country mouse' little kid.
